Hey what’s up guys, I know I haven’t put up any post in a while; I’m so sorry about that, I haven’t had time and when I do I try to put it into other stuffs I’m into. I’m really sorry about that and I promise to start posting as much as I can. I have learnt how to use my time efficiently to accomplish all I intend on doing. I think every person will have to learn how to successfully manage their time and focus their energy on the right things –to some extent – to avoid mental and physical stress. Sometimes I’m always so exhausted and tired after a long week, only to glance back and realize I didn’t really do anything different other than going to work. Most times I even wonder what exactly I’m doing with time because I don’t get to do things as planned. I knew I needed to be doing more and I can do better. This made me to learn more on planning, prioritizing and managing my time, energy and self properly and I will share some few tips with you all.
PLAN FOR A SUCCESSFUL DAY
I have things I want to achieve before I’m 25 and 30 and I want to believe we all have goals – personal and professional – which we intend on achieving over a period of time. A house is built block upon block, it doesn’t just fall from the sky, likewise when you have goals. You need to know how you can achieve it, break it down into smaller tasks and put a time limit to it. Before you can decide how productive you want your day to be; have a plan of what you want out of life. You can’t know what to deal with today unless you know what you want to be tomorrow. You have to have a clear picture of your goal to be more productive with your time.
WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN
I realized writing down your plans and thoughts is not necessary because you won’t forget; it also helps you to analyze your goals, better planning towards it and helps to work out priorities. So if you want to have a productive week, I will advise you to write down things you want to achieve day in day out, thus you can be accountable for each day. You can even set reminder on your phone – which I do a lot –just in case you get carried away. Accountability is key, No wonder most diaries are broken down hourly. I haven’t gotten the discipline to use a diary to plan my day; I just set one major task I must fulfill each day.
When planning your daily tasks, you don’t exaggerate your expectations. You need to be realistic about what you want to achieve over a period of time. Understand the limit of your capacity; it’s good for your mental health. You can stress your expectations from time to time but start by establishing a reasonable target.
When i first started reading books, I started with one chapter per day and before the end of the month, I’m done and I’m unto the next on.When making daily plans, understand two major things: Your body pattern and work pattern. Body pattern most importantly will allow you to know when best you can be effective (for me it’s mostly at night) and your energy peaks, both physically and mentally. Understanding work patterns will enable you to know when each task can be carried out during the day; Notice when the work load is hectic and when it reduces. This will help you to set achievable tasks throughout the day without being burn out.
AVOID THE MEANINGLESS
This is the aspect I needed to improve on. I always get to work late, not because I don’t wake up early but due to the fact that I spend hours trying to figure out what I missed on social media when I was sleeping. The amount of time I spend on social Media, you will think I’m a share owner in these companies. Sometimes I be on the phone till 4 o’clock in the morning, talking about unimportant stuffs. It is funny how time flies; so I will advise to spend less time on things that do not profit you. Don’t waste time on meaningless conversations, or trying to keep up with the Media. Complete your task before watching that movie or gisting with friends. It takes a lot of wisdom and self-disciple to be focus but it’s of great profit after all.
These are the few things I’ve learnt in management of my time and I hope it is useful to you guys too. I’m determined in making everyday a success by having a written task which can achieve daily within my energy and time limit; focused on achieving it before doing things that doesn’t benefit my goal.
